10 ways that you can become a happier, more motivated person.

Today we wanted to email something uplifting–share some favorite tips to become happier and more inspired. Life can be challenging: we can face negative, traumatic, or downright sad experiences. To help overcome and stimulate joy here are some helpful secrets that can bring happiness to your day:

1. Practice Gratitude. It is proven that being thankful and counting blessings can make you a happier person. Get a journal and record 1-3 things you are grateful for each day.
2. Get Dressed. Getting ready everyday will make you feel better about yourself and encourage you to succeed. Put on your favorite necklace (wink, wink) and make it a point to look your best wherever you go.
3. Exercise. Being active doesn’t always sound fun in the moment, but exercising helps our bodies produce antibodies, and our brains release endorphins. While antibodies boost happiness by keeping illness away, endorphins are feel-good chemicals that improve mood.
4. Unplug and Be Still. One way that you can increase motivation and happiness is finding quite moments to unplug and recharge. If you are always working and on- the-go it is actually valuable to stop and be still. You will feel better after, and no longer be running on fumes.
5. Make your bed. “If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed” U.S. Navy Adm. William H. McCraven
6. Discard Negative Thoughts. It’s very easy to be down on ourselves, but it doesn’t help you become a happier person. The next time you think negatively about yourself or your situation, discard the thought and replace it with a positive thought.
7. Serve Someone. Often when we are sad or unmotivated we are thinking of our own problems. Stop and look around and think of who you can help or make smile. Serving can help you feel happier and more fortunate.
8. Add Flowers to your Home. You deserve fresh flowers. They look great, smell great, and make you feel great. Make it a ritual to always have flowers in your home. They are an instant mood-booster and make your environment that much prettier.
9. Make and Share Your Goals. Successful people often are goal makers. Accountability is huge when it comes to achieving your goals. Sharing your goals with friends, family, or social media followers will help you stay accountable. There’s nothing like accountability to keep you motivated.
10. Invest in Yourself. It is said: “There is no more profitable investment than investing in yourself. It is the best investment you can make; you can never go wrong with it. It is the true way to improve yourself to be the best version of you and lets you be able to best serve those around you.” Start investing in yourself with a little piece of jewelry to remind you to dream, believe, and hope in yourself.
